Hi students,
Today let’s see some expressions with the prepositions “in“, “at” and “on“.
- We use “in” for long periods of time (months, years, seasons). Examples: in October, in winter, in 2016, in the 18th century, in the past, in the future…
- We use “at” for the time of day. Examples: at five o’clock, at 11.30, at midnight, at lunchtime… We can also use it in these expressions: at the weekend, at the moment, at present, at Christmas.
- We use “on” for dates and days. Examples: on Friday, on 21st December 2016, on Christmas day, on my birthday, on Tuesday morning, on Saturday afternoon…
More expressions.
- in bed, in hospital, in prison, in the sky, in a car, in a taxi, in a picture, in a newspaper, in a book…
- at home, at work, at college, at university, at the airport, at the doctor’s, at a concert, at a party…
- on a bus, on a plane, on a ship, on the right, on the left, on the first floor, on the ground floor…
Well, I hope all these expressions are useful for you. Try to memorize them. That’s all by now.
